Aprilia is rapidly expanding its horizons of conquest. Crowned with a fine sports track record in competition with its 2 GP times and its very efficient RSV, the Noale brand recently put on the market a rather sporty sport-GT, the SL 1000 Falco, before presenting us a real sport -GT: the RST Futura. The design is well in mind and yet it shocks: angular lines, ridges, right angles … it’s confusing. The Futura surprises, and not only by its line. Let’s approach and discover a host of technical solutions. What particularly embellishes the bike is its superb single-sided arm. Unlike the VFR which hides it behind its exhaust, that of the Italian is clear, visible to all and very accessible. This is due to the presence of the triangular pot perfectly integrated under the saddle. Thus, we obtain a very thin rear axle, ideal for installing side cases..
This tiny pot is actually like an iceberg: it only has the visible tip – an enormous stilling chamber is hidden under the engine. The gases and the majority of their heat are treated there, thus preventing excessive temperature rises harmful to the passenger’s buttocks. This chamber could be installed because of the twin technology: lubricated by dry sump, it is thus less bulky. This mill which has also been revised to stick to the road spirit of the RST. But we can trust it to provide pleasure and formidable efficiency. The dashboard is ultra complete and the tank allows you to see coming.
Unbolting the VFR will not be easy. It would take a wiser silhouette and a more serene behavior (find out about the tires) to make it a new benchmark..
