It does to say it, and that is surely what happened in the design office of the new Tuono. This new model benefits from the evolutions developed for the RSV-R 1000 with the recipe of the wild, aggressive roadster, at the heart of sports. Aprilia announces it clearly: "La Tuono is a street fighter !" Style question, it’s even nastier, more angular, perhaps also stranger with this decoration mixing the shock of colors with checkered flags floating from the fender to the tank.
Disturbing in style, beefy in the guts. The Tuono borrows everything it can from the sports car: the aluminum perimeter frame, the banana swingarm, the Showa inverted fork with its radial brake calipers, the Brembo Gold series braking system, superb rims with Y-sticks and a steering damper housed under the fork crown.
Here, let’s talk about it! A real insect mouth ready to degniak anything that moves. Its menacing mouth houses a forced air intake system. Very widespread among sports cars, this is the first time that this process has been applied to a roadster. Perfect for well stuffing the Italian’s magnesium twin (the factory announces 3% more power at high speed), which sees its potato reduced to 133 hp. A small touch-up on the mapping necessary to give it a more roadster temperament and more torque at low speeds. That was for the 2006 vintage … which is already back in the optimization box in 2007. 6 horses gained allow the V60 to touch the bar of 140 nags.
Lower by 15 mm, the machine has been redesigned to provide more pleasure, efficiency and comfort for the pilot. The Tuono went through a wind tunnel for its development. Question numbers, the wheel has been reduced by 6 kg and gains 7 hp (while respecting Euro 3 standards).
Bye bye the unique side exhaust – We find the 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust line of the 1000 RSV-R and the half-analog, half-digital dashboard – a real little on-board computer.
With this new fighter, Europe has a beautiful panoply of styles. Imagine a little explanation between a Ducati S4R, a Triumph Speed Triple 1050, a KTM Superduke, an MV-Agusta 910 Brutale and this Tuono 2006…
"The same only better ?" Certainly not. She keeps her name but she is much, much better. The performance, potential, equipment and design of the new Tuono send the old generation back to the closet. Between the sidewalks or the curbs, it’s going to be rare: all the potential of the RSV-R is there, except that you are riding a roadster.
