With the evolution of the Boxer 1200, the 1200 GS gets a small update. The plastic of this big road trail does not change one iota, 2008 had already taken care of it. There will be new colors for the dress, and new additional LED headlights as an accessory.

The changes are exclusively mechanical, with an update coming directly from the sporty HP2. Could it be a new engine? Not really, but things are moving in the cylinder heads. There are now 2 overhead camshafts controlling 4 radially arranged valves. The diameters through which the gases pass are all revised upwards: + 3 mm for the intake valves, + 2 mm for the exhaust ones, + 3 mm for the throttle bodies. There is no change in the internal dimensions of the flatbed twin – same displacement, stroke and bore identical, but combustion chambers and pistons are modified. It must be said that the Boxer takes more turns with its new configuration: 500 rpm additional to block at 8,500 rpm max. Its power increases by 5% to reach 110 horsepower, obtained 250 revs later; It is mainly the couple who benefit from the operation, with half a kilogram of gain. Result: a smoother curve, more punch in the connecting rods, and an adjustable exhaust sound and ‘’Vigorous’ ’thanks to a motorized valve…. Like many manufacturers, BMW has split off an Exup. The pot takes the opportunity to change its internal structure without modifying its external shape. A little trick to recognize the new Boxer 1200 with 2 ACT: its cylinder head covers are held by 2 screws instead of 4.

Oh yes, there are some small changes other than mechanical. The new red color? No, I mentioned it at the start of the new colors. I wanted to come to the ergonomics chapter. The thing was gone but welcome the return of the handlebar adjustment. It can be rotated 180 ° with a set of clamping pads. We can thus choose a position more typical road and another oriented track with standing taxi.
We also mention the resized windshield adjustment knobs, a redesigned dial on the dashboard, a catalog of options and accessories that has further inflated – we still find the very interesting ESA Enduro suspension tuning, widely detailed in the data sheet. the previous R 1200 GS. For the rest, this trail-GT has already largely proven itself. More vigor can only enchant us.
