There is now a mid-size version of the pinnacle of the road with globetrotter sauce: the F 800 GS Adventure. Taking the recipe of the 1200 GS of the same name, the Bavarian mid-range trail is in turn emancipated to offer the scent of trails and valleys. A relevant and more affordable solution, because the big GS requires a solid portfolio when buying (more than 16,000 euros excluding options). With a more measured caliber, the Adventure extends the handlebars to a new handful of users.
In this version, the F 800 GS is ready to go further, longer and more comfortably. The trellis frame is retained but reinforced in order to withstand new stresses. In Adventure, the machine has a 24-liter tank, 8 more than the standard – the manufacturer announces 120 km of additional autonomy. The twin has to cope with an increase in weight and intends to consume 10% more. These elements combined make it possible to envisage a range of over 400 km. Already ready to accommodate a set of suitcases thanks to the supports supplied as standard, the Béhème prepares the horizon for you.
To stand out while retaining its identity, nothing like a slight but assertive modification of the dressing. On the F 800 GS Adventure, the side panels and seat sides impose a more robust look. Protection is reinforced everywhere, with a larger screen, hand guards, a protective plate under the engine and a set of crankcase guards. Thicker, more comfortable, and much more generous for the passenger, the saddle rises by 10 mm. Perched now 890 mm from the ground, the seat becomes quite high; especially since the lowering kit is not available. With a view to more intensive off-road use, the Adventure also stands out with its enlarged enduro-type toe clips and its reinforced brake pedal..
ABS is standard, as on all BMs. The Adventure can complete its range of assistance with ESA piloted suspension and ASC anti-skating with the new enduro mode. A simple button allows the motorcycle to automatically coordinate the ABS and the ASC to optimize handling on soft and stony terrain.
At your service to take you over hill and dale, the twin has not undergone any modification. 85 horses escape from the 798 cm3 as well as a torque of 8.4 mkg. It is his responsibility to deal with 15 kg more to take. Because with its additional equipment, the F 800 GS goes to 229 kg by becoming Adventure.
A little sister 800 Adventure, that falls well in the range of the manufacturer. Those who wanted to embrace the concept but felt intimidated by the big 1200 will find a more accessible machine here. The size will be less impressive and the slate less salty (about 4,000 euros less). You will not have the gimbal or the Telelever, but the essentials of a machine with the sweet desires of escape.
