The Electra Glide is as much associated with Harley-Davidson as Harley is with Davidson and Davidson with Harley. It appeared in 1965 and quietly continues its journey today. In the Touring range, the Ultra Classic version is the most richly equipped, supreme American liner on the road. In contrast, the Standard aims to be more affordable by avoiding carrying certain elements, without sacrificing the Electra philosophy. Always rigid suitcases to take some luggage, the gaze at the triple lighthouse preceding a large head of fouche, a thick and soft saddle…. and a more dynamic line which is explained by the absence of the combined top-case-seat-senatorial seat of the passenger, the deflectors in front of the legs removed and protections in steel tubes less present. The on-board equipment is less provided and the approach fare much less toxic: several thousand euros of difference between the standard and the Ultra Classic. Like any self-respecting liner, the maneuverability is of the same ilk, the size certain, the docking not to be improvised. A big part of the pleasure of riding with this Electra comes of course from the big Twin Cam 96. More efficient, more pot-bellied than its predecessor, it is still, with its fatty muscle and its vibrations, an excellent traveling companion..
