With this machine, Honda is sailing almost against the tide of the competition. Everywhere, machines with a marked and fiery personality are created – BMW K 1200 R, Benelli 1130 TnT, Yamaha FZ1, Kawasaki Z 1000, Ducati S4R, MV-Agusta 910 Brutale, etc … – The winged manufacturer has chosen to "develop a simple machine, versatile and accessible to all, like the CBF 600" ; according to the press kit. With this in mind, the design of the 1000 CBF is both simple and elegant, with calmed contours and large eyes that are a bit mischievous. In the absence of sex appeal, it inspires serenity and quiet strength. Its fork crown half-fairing, stylistically very similar to the 600 version, is equipped with a screen adjustable in 2 positions and 40 mm. The protection is advertised as very high level. There is GT in this roadster, which also offers an adjustable saddle on 3 heights as well as a handlebar that can be positioned over more or less 10 mm.
No innovation on the part-cycle side except for the type of frame "mono-backbone" seems to be becoming the standard for Honda roadsters. After being installed on the Hornet 600 and 900 then on the CB 500 and 600, this structure now colonizes the CBF 1000. Made up of a main steel beam where the engine is anchored as a stiffening element. , this element plays an important role in the compactness of this machine; its dimensions being very close to the CBF 600.
The fashion for oversized peripherals does not reach this fat roadster. No inverted 50mm forks or tires as wide as car wheels. The CBF is equipped with a conventional 41mm diameter fork, a steel swingarm, a pro-link HMAS shock absorber, and very reasonable sized tires: 120 at the front and 160 at the back. It throws less but we find ourselves there in terms of agility and portfolio. Braking is also completely standard, except in the version "Deluxe" of the CBF – He then equips himself with ABS and CBS.
