Honda RC 213 V-S 2015

Here is finally Honda’s MotoGP road version. Like Ducati with its Desmosedici RR, the Japanese manufacturer has decided to transpose its prototype into a road version. The RC 213 V-S, from its common name, becomes Honda’s new ultimate sports car. A road-approved version of the Marquez and Pedrosa machine, designed to offer all the technology of MotoGP to an elitist and passionate clientele.

The RC 213 V undergoes some modifications to offer the joy of driving on open roads. It starts with the essential headlight, which comes to occupy the forced air inlet. Then come a whole bunch of trinkets such as rear light, mirrors at the end of the handlebars, starter, side stand, silencer with catalyst, indicators, etc … But the silhouette remains identical to the proto. The plumage is worth the ramage and vice versa.

But what challenges us is the engine of this racing wheel. The 999cc V4 must give up a little technology to adapt to a less exclusive use than a commitment in the most muscular and prestigious of the world championships. He thus abandons the pneumatic distribution and the Seamless gearbox. And a lot of horses.
We expected not to find the 250 horses (approximately) of the grindstone of the paddocks. But reading the technical sheet cools morale and enthusiasm. The boiler only develops 159 horsepower here. A bit scandalous when a CBR 1000 RR spits out almost 180 … and the current hypersport standard orbit at 200 nags. But like the RC 30 and RC 45, it is not in its standard version that the RC 213 V-S will express its potential. An optional kit will be sold for use exclusively on the track – 13,000 euros per end. And there, the discourse is not the same. The V4 is transformed into a competition beast by distributing 215 horsepower at 13,000 rpm. And the torque goes from 10.4 mkg to more than 12.1 mkg at the same speed of 10,500 rpm.

Although modeled on that of MotoGP, the chassis of the RC 213 V-S has some differences in geometry. It is 48mm longer, has a longer wheelbase of 30mm, and its weight values differ. From around 158 kilos in MotoGP, the road version climbs to 170 units. The racing kit lightens the slate and allows to accuse a small 160 kilos. The tank, in the standard of sports, embeds 16.3 liters of fuel.
The frame claims to be a very classic and highly efficient aluminum perimeter, combined with a huge swingarm. Don’t hesitate to drool in front of the sublime inverted pressurized fork Öhlins. Brembo calipers are of high quality, but don’t expect to find the Lithium caliper duo? carbon discs for certain seasons; one has been banned in MotoGP since 2015 – the other is ineffective in the rain.

The RC 213 V-S can be ordered from July 13, 2015. The price sprays all existing and past references of competition motorcycles suitable for civilian use: 188,000 euros to crack a RC 213 V-S.
