The RC series, for Reparto Corse, has undeniably made its mark in the MV-Agusta range. The F4 fell in love with it to become a face of the Superbike; other models take the opportunity to praise the sporting fiber and flatter the purchaser. The Dragster 800 renews its faith in the colors of the competition department, with an updated decoration in 2019. Darker, the dress changes depth compared to previous editions. The most visible points remain the rims haloed in red, the updated sponsors, the more colorful front fender, its scent of black and the presence of an SC Project silencer. The welding work on the intermediate tube is simply superb, worthy of the best achievements of the 2-stroke era.
Some special pieces, a racing decoration and here we are in the mood. Boiling, this special series is built on the basis of the 800 Drasgter RR. Either the meanest version of the Dragster with a 3 cylinder that spits 140 horsepower. The latter do not want to stay calm, and wait for their friends. The racing kit supplied with the motorcycle allows, once installed, to gain 8 kilos and to increase the power to 150 horses. Between the Italian colors and the scent of combat, MV-Agusta clearly highlighted the 37 which symbolizes the brand – its number of titles in the world championship. Figure that has not changed since 1974.
To mark this special series, the manufacturer gave it a few carbon parts, such as the front fender brackets, the rear fender, the speedometer cap and the trim pieces at the base of the tank. Too bad, we lose the superb spoked wheels of the standard version, replaced by forged rims. The Marzocchi fork has lost its red anodization but remains fully adjustable. The shock absorber is just as important. The shoe, discreet on the RR, decides to be more garish by presenting a whole list of sponsors. For the seat, a superb two-tone saddle mixes leather and stitching.
Like the RR, the Dragster 800 RC is electronically shielded with MVICS 2.0 management. It includes Ride-By-Wire, 8-level traction control, 4 driving modes working with engine management, traction control, throttle sensitivity, engine brake, torque curve, etc. .. Three are pre-programmed according to particular profiles (Sport, Normal, Rain) and one is completely configurable by the user. The Quickshifter EAS 2.0 allows you to go up and down gears without touching the clutch. Sporty, the chassis is still based on a trellis frame in steel tubes connected to beautiful aluminum plates, 4-piston Brembo radial brakes around 320 mm discs, a rear planed to the cleat and a large tire 200 m rear.
MV-Agusta has ennobled a whole RC family, where this 800 Dragster RR is invited. History to underline the exclusivity of the model, this one will be manufactured in a limited number of specimens. For a reindexed price that is difficult to justify. But with a MV, who cares – it’s the passionate side that speaks.
