It had been a while that we hoped for a redesign of the Fazer 1000 – it’s done with this 2006 vintage. Yamaha is updating its concept of super muscular Fazer by using the same recipe as for the first version … with all the advantages of current technology.
First, the engine. It is that of the R1 2004-2005 with a more adaptation "roadster". The boiler distributes 150 hp and almost 11 mkg of torque. Unlike the first FZS 1000, this block is fueled by injection – the old one was content with a rail of carbs. Around this mill, it causes serious. Similar to that of the FZ6, we discover the same type of die-cast aluminum frame but much weaker, an inverted fork, a big reinforced swingarm, 320 mm brake discs, lightened rims (it seems that this either those of the R1) … guarantees of rigor and efficiency in terms of its road skills.
Apart from its fork crown which appears to be an evolution of the current large FZS, the silhouette of the new FZ1 copies the design of the FZ6 on a larger scale with that touch of aggressiveness typical of large Yam engines. Where the eye remains closed, it is in front of the escapement and its singular profile. This is not the same profile as the 2005 GSX-R 1000, but it is also astonishing. what’s the difference !
